Honduras' National Service of Agrifood Health and Safety (Senasa) announced on 29 September that the country has regained its avian influenza-free status after health authorities and the poultry industry completed three months of monitoring and control, allowing poultry-related markets to reopen.
In June, avian influenza virus was detected in wild birds and at a commercial farm, prompting the government to declare a health emergency. During the emergency, epidemiological surveillance was carried out nationwide, covering more than 260 commercial farms and over 19.4 million birds.
